Orthopantomography (OPG)

Panorex radiographs were used to demonstrates the number, position and growth of all the teeth including those that have not yet surfaced or erupted, to view the entire mandible and maxilla, to evaluate the condyles, to evaluate the connection between the jaws, to evaluate the connection between the lower wisdom teeth to the mandibular canal. OPG can also be used in cases where the patient is more than eighteen years old and no wisdom teeth can be seen in the mouth without a history of tooth pulling.
OPG has also been used in cases where there is a large number of caries and in cases where the patient is unable to open the mouth for intraoral radiography due to trismus. OPG can also be used before implanting multiple types of fixed prostheses, in cases of severe pain in the mouth for no apparent reason, in cases of posterior implants to examine the mandibular canal and maxillary sinus, and in cases of jaw’s trauma.
